during your sophomore year and your PSAT test during your junior year. You
should register to take both the SAT and ACT tests either during the spring of
your junior year or during the fall of your senior year. Be sure to pick
up a registration packet in the guidance office for all the details.
Q: When should I start looking at Colleges?
A: You should begin looking seriously at colleges during the summer
before your senior year. Start getting ideas about what kind of a college
you want, (public vs. private) what size school would best fit your
personality, a major that your interested in., etc...College
representatives will have scheduled visits at the guidance office throughout the
fall of each year. All college representative dates and college open

program?
A: If you are interested in getting more information regarding a
BOCES program, you should see your counselor and/or go to the BOCES
website for specific program information. www.OswegoBoces.org
Q: I don't like the class I'm currently
taking. Can I drop it?

and parent. It is recommended that a student discuss any class concerns
with their teacher prior to approaching the counselor.

Bring the college mailing information and the deadline. Be sure to allow
your counselor ample amount of time to write the perfect letter just for you!

information? Where do I get the info?
A: You should grab a scholarship information packet in the guidance
office during the spring of your junior year or the fall of your senior
year. Many of the scholarships have deadlines, so you should start your
search ASAP!
Q: I failed a class first semester. Can I take
it again during the second semester?
A: Students who fail a course in the fall may not repeat it
in the spring semester.
