Q:  When should I take the SAT or ACT Tests?
A:  You should start with taking the PLAN test (ACT prep test) during your sophomore year and your PSAT test during your junior year.  You should register to take both the SAT and ACT tests either during the spring of your junior year or during the fall of your senior year.  Be sure to pick up a registration packet in the guidance office for all the details.

Q:  When should I start looking at Colleges?
A:  You should begin looking seriously at colleges during the summer before your senior year.  Start getting ideas about what kind of a college you want, (public vs. private) what size school would best fit your personality,  a major that your interested in., etc...College representatives will have scheduled visits at the guidance office throughout the fall of each year.  All college representative dates and college open houses are listed on the weekly menu.

Q:  How do I get information about a BOCES program?
A:  If you are interested in getting more information regarding a BOCES program, you should see your counselor and/or go to the BOCES website for specific program information.  www.OswegoBoces.org

Q:  I don't like the class I'm currently taking.  Can I drop it?
A:  No course may be dropped following the completion of the 1st marking period of that semester.  If dropping a class puts the student below the 5.5 credit minimum, they must schedule a course in its place.  A core class can only be dropped with the consent of the administrator, teacher and parent.  It is recommended that a student discuss any class concerns with their teacher prior to approaching the counselor.

A:  Make an appointment with your counselor ASAP.  Bring the college mailing information and the deadline.  Be sure to allow your counselor ample amount of time to write the perfect letter just for you!

A:  You should grab a scholarship information packet in the guidance office during the spring of your junior year or the fall of your senior year.  Many of the scholarships have deadlines, so you should start your search ASAP!

Q:  I failed a class first semester.  Can I take it again during the second semester?
A:  Students who fail a course in the fall may not repeat it in the spring semester.
