Referee Hand Signals   

     Time In - Chopping motion with a hand or finger.

 

   Timeout or Stop Clock - Arm raised with open palm facing out.

 

  30-Second Time-Out - Both hands touching shoulders.

 

  Direction of Play  - Arm outstretched in front of the body with            a finger pointing in the direction while the color of the team on offense is called.

 

  Jump Ball - Thumbs of both hands raised above the head.

 

  Cancel Score, Cancel Play or No Score - Outstretched arms crossed then uncrossed in front of the body.

 

  3-Point Field Goal - One arm is raised above the head when an attempt

is made, and the other is raised if the shot is successful.

 

Personal Foul - Clenched fists raised above the head.

 

  Technical Foul - Both hands used to form the letter "T" at chest level.

 

  Loose Ball Foul - Both arms extended to the side at shoulder level.

 

  To Designate an Offender - Fingers held up to indicate the  player's jersey number (each hand represents one digit).

 

  Basket Interference - Finger of one hand rotated around a fist formed by the other hand in front of the body.

 

  Goaltending - 2 fingers waved downward to indicate 2 points are being awarded to the offense.

 

  3-Second Rule Infraction - 3 fingers held up in the air.

 

  Traveling - Two clenched fists and forearms rotated around each other in front of the body.

 

  Blocking - Both hands placed on the hips.

 

  Charging - Clenched fist with the arm outstretched to the side at shoulder level.

 

  Holding - One wrist grabbed with the opposite hand.

 

  Illegal Dribble or Double Dribble - Patting motion in front of the body with one hand at a time.

 

  Pushing - Pushing motion with both palms facing out from the chest.
